Our Philosophy
We believe that every child is capable, curious, and full of potential. Our philosophy is rooted in respect for each child as an individual, and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Our role as educators is to nurture the natural spark of wonder each child has. We will support them in a safe environment as they grow, learn, and explore the world around them.
The role of a teacher
As observers and listeners, our teachers notice the games children play, the questions they ask, and the things that spark their interest. By listening deeply to gain insight on their experiences, teachers are able to guide their instruction to meet the specific needs of their students.
As co-learners, our teachers wonder alongside their students; encouraging them to think critically, test ideas, and view teachers as partners in their discovery.
As guides, our teachers provide scaffolding to support children’s experiences without taking over. We create environments that invite exploration, and provide tools and materials to help children investigate and express themselves.
As documenters, our teachers make children’s learning visible through photos, notes, and displays. This documentation honors the children’s experience and helps families to see the richness of their child’s day. This also creates opportunities for our teachers to reflect on and extend learning.
As community builders, our teachers aim to nurture the relationships between children, families, and the wider community. We hope each child will have a sense of belonging in their classroom and beyond.
